We bring out some information about top internet providers in Dubai. We write about the features of the Internet in the UAE: about the operators, prices, and restrictions.
Internet Providers in the UAE.
There are two major telecom operators in the UAE which provide internet facility to their customers as well.
- Etisalat
- Du
Etisalat and DU, both are national UAE companies, partly owned by the state. Both work on GSM 900/1800 formats. According to the Internet Facility, it is believed that Etisalat is more focused on residents of the country, because they serve more subscribers under post-payment agreements. DU is more focused on tourists and short-term visitors to the UAE and they have more pre-paid subscribers.
Etisalat is the largest mobile network operator in the UAE. It is partly owned by the state and not so focused on prepayment. However, their new prepaid SIM card is open to 4G / LTE. Etisalat has a super-fast internet connection up to 500Mbps download and up to 50Mbps upload speed depends on your package. By running an Etisalat speed test, you may confirm the internet speed.
Du is the second largest telecommunication company in the UAE after Etisalat. It is to be considered that this network works best for the tourists and visitors due to the payment plans. This network also has 4G/LTE which is also ultrafast and picks up the same upload and download speeds as Etisalat.
VoIP Blocking.
VoIP services are blocked in the UAE because Etisalat and Du are the only two operators licensed to provide VoIP services and there was a big loss to them to provide such free communication services. Most of the audio and video calling software and applications are banned in the UAE including Skype, Viber, WhatsApp call, and Facebook Call etc.
